“The Woodland Trust are urging volunteers to grab a spade and tackle the climate crisis” (The Guardian 23 September 2019 https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/sep/23/call-for-1m-people-join-uk-biggest-mass-tree-planting-campaign )
This necessary and worthy event is part of a plan by The Woodland Trust to have planted a tree for every person in the country by 2025. Planting trees is the simplest approach available to help combat climate change and the “UK should have 1.5 billion new trees by 2050 to meet the net zero carbon target” according to the Committee on Climate Change.
The Woodland Trust are also encouraging groups of people to care for the trees to make sure that they survive. Please read The Guardian article for full information.
I want to do my part and encourage awareness on this event, it would would be nice if we could get part of this televised and I will do my best if anyone wants to join me. Please either pledge a tree, some land or even help form an action group in your community to get involved.
